CORNWALL 31 March-6 April 2012

A few birds were seen during our family holiday in West Cornwall.  Daily seawatches of 40-90 minutes off St. Ives Island produced 2 Great Northern Divers, 10 Manx Shearwaters, 2 Purple Sandpipers and daily maxima of 88 Gannets, 32 Fulmars, 23 Shag and 71 auks.  A trip to Sennen while the family looked around Lands End failed to find an elusive Hoopoe but produced my first Swallows and Willow Warblers of the year.  Elsewhere from the coastal footpath 2 Peregrines, 3 Ravens and 5 Chough were seen.
